Mid-Atlantic Writing Centers Association
A regional affiliate of the
Cinthia Gannett (center) and colleagues at the 2008 Temple conference.
If you are interested in getting connected with MAWCA, we want to hear from you!
The easiest way to get involved with MAWCA is attend a MAWCA event. The events are open to all,
and when you register for an event, you become an official “member” of MAWCA for three years. Being
a member means that you will be subscribed to our membership listserv, through which we distribute
announcements and reminders about upcoming events. MAWCA members are also eligible to vote in the annual elections for the executive board.
If you can’t attend an event, you can still get connected to MAWCA. If you would like to receive
announcements and reminders about upcoming MAWCA conferences, workshops, and other events, please let us know and we will add you to the Writing Center Community Announcement listserv. You can do sign up for the listserv by sending an email to Nicole Munday (NMUNDAY@salisbury.edu). You can like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter as well.
You can also make a personal connection by contacting any member of the MAWCA Executive Board by phone or email. Board members will be happy to talk with you about your writing center, and to answer any questions you may have about participating in MAWCA events and activities.
If you are already a member of MAWCA and you are interested in becoming more substantially involved in the organization, we welcome your interest and participation. If you want to get a sense of the project we have underway, you can attend an Executive Board meeting as an observer. You can also contact the MAWCA President or Vice President to talk about your interests and how you could become involved on a project or a committee. If you are interested in serving on the Executive Board, you can run for a seat in our annual elections. The call for nominations is distributed in January, and elections are held, usually, before the end of March. If you don’t (yet) know anyone on the Executive Board, we encourage you to run for a seat! We are committed to bring new faces into the organization.
